1-29-10 Marylou 1st art project

Marylou made her first art project - a finger painting - today. I globbed on a few globs of blue and yellow and let her go to town. She seemed to enjoy the feeling of the paint, rubbing her hands back and forth. A few times she lifted her hands up, looked at them, and open-shut-open-shut them...trying to figure out what was going on.

Memphis decided to forgo the finger paints (been there, done that - right?) and go for the stamps instead. He chose the vehicle stamps - which he LOVED! He commented on how the stop sign stamp was yellow, adn that it really should be red...and the fire truck stamp was blue, and it really should be red. He said, "Momma, these stamps is all mixed up! They is so silly!"

Snow Day!

We had an unexpected snow today. Memphis was very excited, "Momma, it's snowing! Look! Snow is fallin' down, down, down...out a da sky. Yeah, snow!" I suggested we go out to explore, and Memphis happily agreed. He brought 2 cars with him so he could make snow tracks in the yard. Marylou also crawled around on the ground - and was pretty happy until her arm gave way and she face planted in the snow. After that she was much happier to ride about in the stroller. We took the stroller for a short walk to the pond. The pond was mostly frozen over, but the section right next to the bridge was still open water. Memphis found a few rocks to throw in - and giggled. Next, we made a few snow balls and Memphis tried throwing them in. He was very interested to see that they didn't sink like rocks, but instead floated on top of the water. One of the snow balls got caught in the current and was sucked under the bridge - we ran to the other side to see if we could find it when it came out. Memphis was SO EXCITED to see it and said, "WEEEeeeeee!" as the snowball rode its' way down the falls. We then (of course) had to repeat this process a dozen times. On our way home we saw a sand truck, he waved hello to us, and Memphis happily chattered about the dirt in the road, "I like dirt! Yeah, I do. I like it a lot!"
